55 Chevy

55 Chevy

In this photo Tom is completing the rewire and relocation if the battery in this 55 Chev. The battery is now in the correct location. Tom installed power steering, new Ididit steering column. He moved the alternator to the passenger side of the engine to give a more " balanced" look under the hood, and enable the correct wiring of the new 140 amp single wire alternator.

Tom working his alignment magic on this 68 Bonneville. This car was very far out of alignment and required quite a bit of time to correct. Tom applies whatever time is required to get it all correct. No "Toe and Go" done in this shop!

68 Camaro

The 68 Camaro got a brake refurbish with all new hubs, bearings, hardware, seals, wheel cylinders and hoses, new Ceramic brake shoes. It got new rear wheel cylinders and a complete flush and bleed of the brake system. This original owner, 454 powered Camaro now stops STRAIGHT!

69 Corvette

69 Corvette

Joe is working on a Muncie M20 transmission from a 69 Corvette. A complete rebuild including some new gears and input shaft. In 99 out of 100 cases on these type of transmissions, GM, Ford, or Mopar gear replacement is required to get correct shifting. Just replacing the brass synchronizer rings will not cure bad or no shift, or pop out of gear issues.

69 Corvette

69 Corvette

The real damage is on the matching synchro teeth on the gears themselves and the sliding engagement collars that actually make the shift and engagement. Replacing 1st or 4th gear is not as common. 2nd and 3rd on every one is just about mandatory, and make sure the clutch is disengaging clean. If it is dragging the transmission during shifts it will quickly damage the synchronizers!

Honda

Honda

This Honda came in for service needing an oil change and tire rotation. The tires were actually bald and we recommended against the rotation, when the true need was tires!

Honda

Looking further, Tom discovered a very dirty air filter, dirty cabin air filter. Tom is thorough in his inspections and also found the left rear shock leaking. Brakes all looked great as did all under hood mechanicals. The customer was very appreciative of the information and honest assessment.

Honda

Honda

He authorized all the work at 2:30. Tom did 4 tires, air filter, cabin air, 2 rear shocks, oil change service and the alignment. The vehicle was ready to go at 5:30.

Having a problem getting those old style steel Magnum wheels balanced correctly? We use an aluminum billet wheel spacer that the rim is mounted to and allows us to perfectly center the rim on our Hunter Road Force balancer. This allows us to see and measure any rim or tire runout, duplicating its actual mounting on the car.

Castrol Edge 5w40 Full Synthetic oil was specified by the factory on the Audi. So that is exactly what was installed. The customers invoice has this specified on it. This protects the customers warranty. On these vehicles we make sure that the correct "factory" fluids and filters are used exclusively. Factory service procedures are followed and systems reset with our scan tool.

Here Tom is carefully removing the lug bolt caps on an Audi A5 with a factory tool to prevent any damage to them. Tires rotated and air pressures set with a digital gauge to factory specification.

This Jeep was just purchased and brought to us for a safety check. It also had some power loss problems that developed after the new owner had driven it a very short time. We found over rich condition fouling spark plugs. This was the culprit. The heat tube to the choke housing was crimped closed and the choke could not open.

50th Anniversary Corvette in the shop. We replaced all four Magnetic Ride shocks in this car. All of them were leaking and the customer opted to keep the car 100% original instead of converting to a Bilstein Gas shock. We also repaired the driver side seat back hinges and release mechanism. We replaced a wobbly vibration damper on the crankshaft (had to remove the steering rack to do it), did a 4 wheel alignment, adjusted the rear parking brakes, and a full synthetic oil change. Alignments

Alignments

Tom was checking the alignment on this SUV. It had excessive tire wear on the inside edge of the front tires. Top line shows very high negative camber. Front toe way out. Rear toe out of spec. In the last picture you can see the major correction to camber on the top line. We installed offset bolts in the front struts to get this gain. Now the tires are standing up straight!

Change your air filters!

Change your air filters!

Is this what your cabin air filter looks like? This one was in there for 50k miles. There are actually two in this Kia. Tom had to vacuum the heater box and the air inlet area outside the car. Lots of leaves, nuts and debris.

2014 Lifted Jeep

2014 Lifted Jeep

2014 Jeep in for some alignment correction. It received a really extensive 4 inch lift kit. The subsequent work by a local alignment shop could not get the steering wheel straight. After carefully checking the installation, and using our Hunter alignment equipment to take a "Top Down" look at the axle positioning, we found the axle positions very far from where the factory suspension would have them located. In addition the left front wheel required an offset ball joint to correct the camber.

78 Landcruiser

78 Landcruiser

We've been working on this 78 Landcruiser, completely reworking the brake system and some rear suspension. The customer also complained of no power, hard starting, oil leaks and more.

78 Landcruiser

78 Landcruiser

The Landcruiser under the hood with carb removed. A smog system nightmare! Since the vehicle is going "off-road," we can make some updates here. Mike found the power loss pretty quickly, the complete intake manifold was loose on the cylinder head! At some point, someone had installed an aftermarket exhaust header with a thicker flange than the intake manifold! Since the exhaust and intake share the same bolts, the intake was never tight!

78 Landcruiser

78 Landcruiser

Here we have the intake off and the valve cover to fix an oil leak on the Landcruiser. We will adjust the valves at this time too. We also figured out a fix for the intake manifold and will "clean up" some of the old smog controls.

78 Landcruiser

78 Landcruiser

Here you can see the hub is all back together, new brake rotor, caliper, brake hose, and new ceramic brake pads for the Landcruiser. Both sides in the front were replaced

78 Landcruiser

78 Landcruiser

In the rear brakes, we replaced the shoes and all 4 wheel cylinders. The cylinders were rusted solid. Gave a false brake feel and no rear brakes!

Lifted Ram

Lifted Ram

This beautiful Ram pickup had a leveling kit installed at the dealer before it was sold. DANGEROUS! The kit raised the front suspension to the point where the stock front shocks would fully extend and literally yank the wheels off the ground on a dip or bump in the road! We see this all the time with Jeeps too!

Lifted Ram

Lifted Ram

Tom then completed the installation on the lifted Ram with a complete alignment on our Hunter infra red alignment equipment. To say the truck drives better would be a huge understatement, and it is safe!

36 Ford (nicknamed Oscar), 56 F100, 2014 Rubicon, and 2015 Silverado all in for repairs. Oscar is in for a service, fix the exhaust cutouts, and service the transmission. Oscar was first put on the road from our shop April 27, 2012! The 56F100 is a complete body off frame build. Now Lightning powered with all the modern conveniences. Look for this truck on the road this summer. 2014 Rubicon in for a repair on the supercharger system and rewire the intercooler pump.

2005 Silverado

2005 Silverado

We have this super clean very low mileage 2005 Silverado in the shop for some engine upgrades. It is equipped with the LS1 5.3 V8. Follow along as Mike pulls the engine out to begin the process. We opted to partially strip the engine of accessories and intake manifold before removing. That allowed the hood to stay in place and we did not have to pull the front radiator support out! This saved much time and prevented any damage to all these body parts.

2005 Silverado

2005 Silverado

In these photos Mike has the front of the truck blanketed and is removing the front driven accessories and intake manifold.

2005 Silverado

2005 Silverado

We are setting up the engine hoist. You can see in the back how the hood is propped almost vertical. We just took two bolts out, one on each spring assembly, and propped the hood open.

2005 Silverado

2005 Silverado

Here you can see the double protection for the front of the Silverado while the engine is being removed. You can also see how the intake manifold has been removed. That gave us good clearance at the back of the engine and allowed much easier access to remove the upper transmission bell housing bolt.

2005 Silverado

2005 Silverado

The engine is out of the Silverado and we are securing the front of the transmission and torque converter. The converter will be pulled later and replaced with a higher stall speed unit from Transmission Specialties.

2005 Silverado

On the back of the flywheel you can see where the oil has been leaking from the rear main seal. Only 47000 miles on the Silverado. Mike already had the old seal out when this photo was taken. This engine will receive a new Lunati camshaft and roller lifters, Edelbrock CNC ported cylinder heads, new Cloyes timing chain and gear set, headers and modified exhaust system.

Very nice 72 Camaro in for some repairs and updates. This car is equipped with a 383 cubic inch Blueprint Engines stroker Auto trans. Customer owned for a short time. The guage and engine would track each other right to 180 approx. Then the guage took off quickly to 225+. Customer thought the sending unit for the guage w

This is Buzzy Bondurant's 56 F100. Finally back from the body shop. It took major restoration of the cab, inside and out, major restoration of the bed, and major restoration of all the exterior sheet metal (not shown). All this after we performed a complete rework of the front suspension and steering. Repositioned the engine and transmission in the chassis, and much much more. In this photo, can anyone tell us what is completely different from any early Ford Pickup they have ever seen?

As we have said so many times, cheap can be expensive. In the photo above you can see the difference in size and quality of these two oil filters. The filter on the right was installed at a local "fast food" style repair shop. First of all it was installed on a Toyota Camry V6 engine, and it is the filter for a 4 cylinder engine so it was leaking badly! Second, notice the cheap construction from an offshore manufacturer. The filter on the left is correct and American made of obviously better qua

This beautiful 69 Camaro was built by Ed Hooker. Ed did a great job on this car from the ground up. After getting the car done and running he had a very hard time getting a good brake pedal and the car would not stop. He had used various parts to install a 4 wheel disc brake system. We went through the system and first got the rear calipers working correctly. An old GM design sold as a low cost rear disc system. Not recommended. Next we discovered the chrome master cylinder he was sold was A. No
